The World Bank

Looking for broad global or country views of inequalities (such as gender, health, financial, education, geography, and mobility)? Perhaps specific items such as ‘how to measure inequality', trends in inequality, income inequalities in a globalised world or gender impacts on growth and development. For these I find the World Bank publications invaluable. I always think of this quote when I think about The World Bank - ‘if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, if you give a man a fishing rod you feed him for a lifetime'. The World Bank is a source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world to fight poverty (mainly around inequalities) - the emphasis is on them helping themselves.

Joanna Ptolomey is the contributing editor for the FUMSI 'Use' practice area.
